National Day of Prayer Gathering in Dagsboro Bethel United Methodist Church in Dagsboro will host a National Day of Prayer Gathering at the flagpole of the Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Department at 28331 Clayton Street in Dagsboro, Delaware on May 5, 2016 beginning at 11:45 am. The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. In 1988, the law was amended and signed by President Reagan, permanently setting the day as the first Thursday of every May. The event will last approximately 45 minutes. If you are not comfortable standing for that long, you may want to bring a chair. The event is free and open to all. In case of rain, prayer will be held inside the fire hall.
