The DVFD along with Frankford EMS and Sussex County Paramedics 103 & 105 were dispatched for an aviation accident on Townsend Road. DVFD Fire Police Gary Cox living in the area heard the crash and found the helicopter in an adjacent field. Asst. Chief D. Stevens (73-16) arrived on scene assuming Townsend Road command. Command advised Sussex EOC of 2 priority 4 pt's, make notification to proper authorites, and have the Mobile Command Unit respond to the scene. All units were staged on Townsend Rd and called to the scene as needed. Frankford and Millsboro Fire Co. covered Dagsboro with an engine each. The scene was turned over to DSP, FAA, and NTSB officials for further investigation. The thoughts and prayers of DVFD members go out to the families of those involved in this tragic event.
